THE BIG PICTURE

Choose Your Destiny – “What do you hope is your destiny? How do you want your life to unfold? I venture to say that all of us ponder these questions many times in our lives. With or without a particular faith, I doubt it is possible for anyone to live a life and not wonder what direction that life is taking. While none of us are ever in total control of our lives, we always are in command of our choices. We choose how to respond to events that unfold both good and bad. We choose whether to lash out in anger or to respond with reason.” – Peter Nayland Kust  – GOOD ONE FROM PETER!!

Driving Us to 15 Minute Cities – “It is no longer possible to find a new car for less than $20,000. Soon it will probably be difficult to find one under $30,000 – thanks to the 25 percent tax that will be folded into the cost of just about every car (and crossover) with a price around $25,000. Not to mention most trucks, too. Because almost all of those are not made in the United States, either – and they will all be hit with the 25 percent tax Trump likes to call a “tariff,” so as to try to get people to not think they’re paying it. And how much will they be paying for this tax? Bloomberg estimates the per car cost – for cars not made in the United States – will be in the vicinity of $5,855. $5,855 may not sound like all that much if you’re flush enough to be able to afford a luxury car at current prices. But there will be additional costs not mentioned in news coverage of Trump’s plan to increase the cost of vehicles – luxury and otherwise – by 25 percent in order to (somehow) make America great again. The more honest term for “Freedom Cities” is 15 Minute Cities, i.e., open air prisons where you’re nominally “free” to move around as you like but only so far as you’re physically able. And that could be the intent behind all of this – even if it is not intentional.” – Eric Peters  – AS  STATED ON THURSDAY, DEPENDING ON THE CAR IT COULD EASILY ADD $10,000 TO THE PRICE. AND AS ERIC STATES YOUR CAR INSURENCE WILL BE GOING UP AS WELL. HIS POINT ABOUT 15 MINUTE CITIES COULD BE SPOT ON!!!!!!

Ultra-Processed Life – “The digital realm, finance, and junk food have something in common: they’re all ultra-processed, synthetic versions of Nature that have been designed to be compellingly addictive, to the detriment of our health and quality of life. In focusing on the digital realm, money (i.e. finance, “growth,” consuming more as the measure of all that is good) and eating more of what tastes good, we now have an Ultra-Processed Life. All three– the digital realm, money in all its manifestations and junk food–are all consumed: they all taste good, i.e. generate endorphin hits, and so they draw us into their synthetic Ultra-Processed World.” – Charles Hugh Smith

The Big Picture & the Decline of The West – ““The West” — the U.S.-and-‘allied’ (i.e., colonies) countries — are shrinking as a percentage of global GDP PPP (Gross Domestic Product at Purchasing-Power-Parity, this being the real measure of an economy). Their approximately 2,000 billionaires, whose percentage of that national wealth has been increasing while that of their countries are declining, are becoming less and less dependent upon exploiting the entire world. Thus, these billionaires are becoming more and more dependent upon exploiting their own people — their domestic population of workers and consumers. It is the stage of imperial over-reach.” – Eric Zuesse

Diego Garcia Smells Like War – “A significant amount of US military power has been on the move over this past week, including several B-2 strategic bombers which have landed at the US military base in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean just over 2,000 miles southeast of Iran. According to press reports this is the most significant B-2 presence on the Island in nearly half a decade. In addition flight trackers are showing increased activity by at least nine KC-135R refueling aircraft in the region. Several C-17 cargo planes have also been spotted by satellites on the Island. A DC whodunit: Who added Jeffrey Goldberg? – “However, one pressing question remains: How did Goldberg end up in this group? His inclusion is as absurd as adding Fox News’ Sean Hannity to a chat among high-level Biden administration officials. Did someone intentionally add Goldberg to this group? If so, who was responsible? Was it Waltz? Is there an anti-Trumper on Waltz’s staff, or was his Signal account possibly hacked by an outsider? For every reason, the individual responsible must be identified and held accountable. The Trump administration has no shortage of tech experts on staff. And this is not rocket science.” – Elizabeth Stauffer

Starmer:Selling Britain by the Pound – “In 1973, the rock band Genesis titled their album ‘Selling England by the Pound’. They did so for various reasons. The title symbolized the loss of traditional English culture due to ‘Americanization’, such as increasing commercialism, consumerism and materialism. It also referred to the UK’s economic struggles, including inflation, industrial disputes and debates about joining the European Economic Community. And the title used a pun on ‘pound’ as both currency and weight, emphasizing the commercialization of British identity. Much has changed in the 52 years since that album was released. There is not much left of Britain to sell after decades of neoliberal globalization.” – Colin Todhunter

Preparing for War Is an American Institution – “In her book, The Trillion Dollar Silencer, Joan Roelofs asks: “Why is there so much acceptance of and so little protest against our government’s illegal and immoral wars and other military operations? Why is there mostly silence about the death and destruction that wars and even the preparation for war inflict on people, Her answer is in her title: You might think that the money goes for weapons, but much of it is used to purchase universities and faculties, think tanks, nonprofit organizations, state and local governments, media, contractors, and foreign governments. The Department of Defense tentacles reach everywhere. With so many so dependent on DOD handouts, there is no one left to protest.” – Paul Craig Roberts

MARKETS A LOOK AHEAD: “When Reality Is Distorted.” (Beyond The Markets). (VIDEO) – Gregory Mannarino

Trump Tariffs Gone Wild – “The U.S. stock market’s recent zigs and zags have triggered considerable excitement. Wall Street pros, private money managers, and Millennial index fund enthusiasts have all been whipsawed by the market’s swift up and down movements. No one can seem to stay ahead of President Trump’s ‘make it up as you go’ tariff games. Trump clarified the rules of the game to reporters in the Oval Office on March 21. Specifically, he intends to be flexible on tariffs when it is to the advantage of American companies. What does this mean?” – MN Gordon

Economic Pain? Market Concerns About the US Economy May Be Exaggerated – “A correction in equity markets tends to generate an immediate negative reaction from citizens, citing political headlines about tariffs and trade as the reasons for equity volatility. However, if markets were scared about the US economy, German and Japanese sovereign bonds would not have declined. Furthermore, at the close of this article, 493 stocks in the S&P 500 are flat in the first quarter despite having reached all-time highs in 2024 and all the negative headlines of 2025. Tariffs are a global concern. However, most investors seemed to be blissfully unaware of the enormous trade barriers and tariffs implemented by the European Union or China in recent years. Market participants seemed perfectly happy with rising tariffs and trade barriers against the United States from other nations. ” – Daniel Lacalle  – IS DANIEL BEING A LITTLE CONTRARIAN HERE!!!

Paper Promises, Golden Truths – “Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value – zero. — Voltaire, 18th century.   In films and TV shows set in the future, money is usually a digital government currency. Credits, cubits, and chits are a few names I recall. This is a globalist CBDC-based vision of the future. Bleak. But in one of my favorite sci-fi movies, Looper, precious metals reign supreme as money.” – Adam Sharp

GOLLLUM

LYRIC FOR THE WEEK

Take a little walk to the edge of town
and go across the tracks
Where the viaduct looms,
like a bird of doom
As it shifts and cracks
Where secrets lie in the border fires,
in the humming wires
Hey man, you know
you’re never coming back
Past the square, past the bridge,
past the mills, past the stacks
On a gathering storm comes
a tall handsome man
in a dusty black coat with
a red right hand

He’ll wrap you in his arms,
tell you that you’ve been a good boy
He’ll rekindle all the dreams
it took you a lifetime to destroy
He’ll reach deep into the hole,
heal your shrinking soul,
but there won’t be a single thing
that you can do
He’s a god, he’s a man,
he’s a ghost, he’s a guru
They’re whispering his name
through this disappearing land
But hidden in his coat
is a red right hand

You don’t have no money?
He’ll get you some
You don’t have no car?
He’ll get you one
You don’t have no self-respect,
you feel like an insect
Well don’t you worry buddy,
’cause here he comes
Through the ghettos and the barrio
and the bowery and the slum
A shadow is cast wherever he stands
Stacks of green paper in his
red right hand

You’ll see him in your nightmares,
you’ll see him in your dreams
He’ll appear out of nowhere but
he ain’t what he seems
You’ll see him in your head,
on the TV screen
And hey buddy, I’m warning
you to turn it off
He’s a ghost, he’s a god,
he’s a man, he’s a guru
You’re one microscopic cog
in his catastrophic plan
Designed and directed by
his red right hand

( Red Right Hand by Nick Cave, Thomas Wydler and Mick Harvey )
