THE BIG PICTURE

Rascals in velvet – “The grand Poobahs of the world have been leaping about zealously managing decline. Now depending on which narrative you are choosing to live in (which depends mostly on your assets of course), Managed Decline is also known as the Great Reset with a lofty paradise on earth all planned and perfected by those who know better than any body else does. The rabble and rascals wouldn’t understand. But that’s okay because most of them won’t be a part of it eventually. There’s just too many of them. (War is sometimes good for that irritating issue.)” – Sylvia Shawcross  -SYLVIA IS BACK AND A GOOD READ AS ALWAYS. HAS BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS!!!!!!!

Buried on Page 86 of Stopgap Spending Bill: Congress Extends Pandemic Emergency Powers, Biodefense Secrecy, and Pharma Privileges Through September 2025 – “Congress looks to extend emergency powers and secrecy over high-containment laboratories in stopgap funding bill.” – Jon Fleetwood

New Mexico Health Officials Mum on Whether Adult Died From — or With — Measles – “CHD Chief Scientific Officer Brian Hooker said the adult who died was not tested for measles until after death — presumably an autopsy — showing that the person “most likely died with the measles but not necessarily from the measles.” “To tell the reader that they died from the measles is quite a quantum leap for a deceased person who wasn’t tested for measles until their autopsy, which yielded a positive test. Also, was it a RT-PCR test? Do we know the reliability of the test? There are so many questions that need to be answered rather than ‘rubber stamping’ this a ‘measles death.’ It seems all too convenient for the narrative of ‘vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate.’”” – Brenda Baletti, Ph.D.

Five Years Later, We Remember How Politicians Unleashed Covid Tyranny – “Living in the Washington area, I had a front row seat for many of Covid-19’s biggest absurdities. After federal officials whipped up panic, “I Believe in Science” lawn signs popped up like mushrooms, soon accompanied by “Thank You, Dr. Fauci” placards. Those signs looked to me like frightful decorations of a Halloween that never ended.” – James Bovard

Memes by Themes #16: The COVID Big Lies – ” March 11, 2025, marks the five-year anniversary of the WHO’s declaration of a COVID-19 pandemic—and voìla, the world was automagically transformed into a military-intelligence–operation-coordinated global totalitarian prison for The Greater Good! Wheeee!” – Margaret Anna Alice

Tariffs Can End Globalism (But They Come with a Cost) – “Ever since the days of Herbert Hoover and the official start of the Great Depression, the concept of trade tariffs has been demonized by academia and the majority of modern economists. It’s actually one area where left-leaning and conservative economists tend to align – though each group opposes tariffs for very different reasons. First and foremost, we have to make it clear that tariffs are taxes on international companies that export goods to other nations. These taxes force companies to import from countries outside of the tariff list or produce goods domestically. The primary targets of tariffs are corporations, not citizens.” – Brandon Smith

Trump Reconsiders Canada Tariffs After Ontario Folds, Suspends Electricity Surcharge – Tyler Durden

The Folly Of ‘Let The Air Out’ – “There is commentary that Trump’s policies and actions may have an “intended” side effect of letting some of the air out of the market bubble — in stocks, that is. The problem with such a view is that it is much like putting a bandage on a sucking chest wound — the reason you have the wound is that something punctured your chest; if that thing is still in there (e.g. a bullet) you better do surgery and get it out,.. The problem, in this case, is runaway deficits and the place it is occurring is in part in NGO and similar spending thus addressing that is a positive but the root of the issue — nearly all of it — is in the medical (and post-secondary educational) sectors. Worse, the now-passed CR in the House (which still must be voted on in the Senate) does nothing to address any of it because it does not cut back a single dollar of deficit spending — it in fact continues all of it through September 30th.” – Karl Denninger

Three Cheers For Rep.Tom Massie! – “Told you so! Donald Trump doesn’t give two hoots about the true agenda that might actually make America freer and more prosperous again. We are referring to the principles of—- peaceful commerce with every nation, entangling alliances with none. minimalist, solvent, constitutional government at home. sound money and market-driven interest rates and asset prices. maximum scope for personal liberty and free markets. decentralized, Federalist arrangements for any necessary functions of the state. Now, if there is one politicians in all of the Washington Swamp besides Senator Rand Paul who stands four-square for these essential principles, it is Congressman Thomas Massie, also of Kentucky. ” – David Stockman

Trump wants to end this GOP maverick’s political career. He’s not too worried. – “Rep. Thomas Massie has been through it all before: The 54-year-old former robotics engineer brushed aside that precise threat from Trump Monday night, even with the president vowing to “lead the charge” against him after Massie made clear that he would not vote for the Trump-blessed spending bill pushed by House Republican leaders. “It’ll blow over.” Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Massie met the threat with a bemused shrug and a well-practiced joke about the situation: “He’s going after Canada and me today. The difference is Canada will eventually cave.”” – Ben Jacobs

Illegal Aliens — Still a Lot to be Done, Warns House Committee – “‘Weaponized migration’ is a threat to national security.” – Kelli Ballard

Collapsing Empire: ‘NATO is Dead’ – “If NATO truly is dead, it represents another long-overdue nail in the Empire’s coffin. It is also yet further confirmation that the US-dominated unipolar order, which has wrought untold death, destruction and misery over the past quarter century, is no more, and never to return. Residents of the Global South can breathe a collective sigh of relief – meanwhile, in a bitter irony, the same Western states that aided and abetted Washington’s unchallenged hegemony now find themselves defenceless.” – Kit Klarenberg

We’re #1 in Selling Weapons! – “American Exceptionalism Defined. We’re #1 (once again) in selling weapons! Amazingly, the USA now accounts for 43% of the world’s trade in deadly weaponry. No country beats more plowshares into swords and pruning hooks into spears than America, which is also, obviously, the most Christian nation in the world.” – Bill Astore

Democrats can afford to suck eggs now – “The price of eggs has been something of a proxy for the economy as a whole over the last couple of years. Egg prices went up, then they went up again when bird flu broke out and all the chickens were slaughtered, even the healthy ones. And Democrats have thoroughly enjoyed going on about the price of eggs. After all, with the chickens dead, the price of eggs couldn’t go down. That was something Trump promised and they were enjoying hammering him for it not happening. Well…they got some bad news. Now Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins is confirming that officially, yes, the prices are dropping.” – Tom Knighton

Can Germany Re-Industrialize? – “Friederich Merz Is Staking The Future Of His Coalition On The Answer. One way or another, Germany is on the cusp of a fairly substantial transformation. Not only is incoming Chancellor Friederich Merz advocating a substantial defense buildup and re-armament program, he wants to rewrite Germany’s constitution to do it.” – Peter Nayland Kust

Will Putin Agree To A Ceasefire? – “There are five compelling arguments for either scenario.” – Andrew Korybko

Europe’s Own Wars – “Updating a US-Europe Relationship Frozen in 1949. The President’s supporters, (These Americans) see our refusal to overpay for our role in NATO as being a long-overdue stop to a multi-billion-dollar, decades-long gravy train that has sustained, since 1949, what are in fact, now, wealthy societies. NATO’s founding origins in the misery, fear and rubble of post-World War II Europe, made sense at that time. But that was then.” – Dr Naomi Wolf

ECONOMIC NEWS

Epic Default – “100 million Americans – up from 81.4 million back in 2010 – are making monthly car payments and those payments now average $737 on new cars and $520 on used ones. Unsurprisingly, a record-high percentage of those in hock are failing to make those payments. $737 – per month! For a car. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average weekly pay in the fourth quarter of 2024 was $1,192. That’s not what’s actually taken home, either. After what’s taken off – for federal taxes and Social Security “contributions” – it is substantially less than that. Let’s say it’s about $1,000 in actual pay – and that’s likely optimistic… A fourth of one’s monthly pay in other words. Not counting what a person pays for gas each week, which is probably at least another $200 per month. Then there’s food – and rent/mortgage/unrealized capital gains taxes (i.e., “property taxes”). Plus “health” insurance, too. Of course, it’s not just those numbers.” – Eric Peters  – HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!!

The Economy in Crisis: How We Got Here and What’s Happening Now – “The global economy is unraveling faster than expected, revealing the aftershocks of stimulus-fueled artificial growth, unsustainable debt, and structural weaknesses across multiple sectors. This downturn isn’t just a short-term correction; it’s the result of years of distorted policy decisions, misallocated capital, and an economic system propped up by government intervention that could never create sustainable growth. Markets are now finally coming to terms with this reality—expect more pain ahead.” – Justin Hart

Kohl’s Spirals into Brick-and-Mortar Meltdown, Blames “Constrained” Consumers, but it’s Just Losing them to Ecommerce, which is Booming – “The stock plunged 24% today to lowest since 1997, down 89% from peak, and has joined our Imploded Stocks.” – Wolf Richter

They Are Accusing Trump Of “Manufacturing” A Recession, But What Is Really Going On? – “The U.S. economy has been on a downward trajectory for a long time, and that downward trajectory got even steeper in the final stages of the Biden administration. But now we are being told that the economic problems that we are experiencing are happening because Donald Trump is “manufacturing” a recession… Really? Trump has been in office less than 60 days. He simply has not had much of an opportunity to have much of an impact on the economy yet. But following more than 1,400 days of Joe Biden, U.S. households were absolutely drowning in debt. In fact, we just learned that the average credit card debt load during the fourth quarter of last year was the highest that we have seen since the Great Recession…” – Michael Snyder

The End Of Fiat? Multiple States Move To Recognize Gold & Silver As Legal Currency – “A dozen states are simultaneously pushing through legislation to undermine the Federal Reserves unconstitutional monopoly on money.” – Don Via Jr.

Silver as a Hedge Against Market Chaos – “Headlines blamed yesterday’s crash on Trump. It’s the tariffs! But I have a much simpler explanation: U.S. stocks have never been so overvalued. With stocks trading at nosebleed valuations, almost anything could catalyze a crash. Sure, tariffs played a role, but the underlying problem is the bubble itself. ” – Adam Sharp

Gold Porn, Part 2: It’s a Real Bull Market – “Irresistible charts from the precious metals breakout. Gold (and now silver) are starting to do things not seen for over a decade. And the resulting charts are just gorgeous.” – John Rubino   – PART 1 WAS LINKED ON 04/06/24!!!

Coming Monetary Reset and Trump’s Impact on Gold and the Dollar – “The gold market is typically driven by paper trading, with large physical deliveries being rare. However, someone in the US recently took possession of approximately 30 million ounces of physical gold. What do you make of this? Large transfers of money usually signal fear.” – Doug Casey

SURVIVAL, PREPAREDNESS AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Why I’m NOT Starting Seeds This Year – “Every year in early February, I get my garden journal out and begin to plan. My garden is more than twice the size of my little 400-foot cabin, so planning is something I take seriously! I have layouts for my garden from each year that I review. The reason why I changed my plans is important, and I realized that, even though I may seem like I’m not being very “prepared,” there is a purpose to this decision.” – Rowan O’Malley

Home Defense 101: Accessing Your Firearm During a Home Invasion – “Accessing your firearm within the home is not an area most would think requires training. So, is it important to train to get to your guns in an emergency? Let’s discuss.” – Karen Hunter
